GravelHost has a simple pitch: game servers for under a dollar per GB of RAM. That’s cheap enough to make any experienced server owner a little suspicious. So instead of repeating the sales page, I checked GravelHost myself.
For this GravelHost review I went through every plan and checkout option, read the full Terms of Service, Refund Policy and SLA, pulled live data on all 207 of its game server nodes, monitored that network every five minutes for 7 hours, measured ping and page speed from Mumbai, and tested its SSL and security setup. Here’s what’s genuinely good, what isn’t, and who it suits.

Pros
- Minecraft from $1.80 for 2GB, about $0.90 per GB, with no player slot limits
- Three hardware tiers, up to Ryzen 9 7950X with DDR5 and dedicated cores
- Clean custom panel with one-click plugin, modpack and version installs, plus a mobile app
- Code DPHost gives new customers 40% off the first order
Cons
- Refund window is only 72 hours on monthly plans, and one refund per account
- Only 1 backup slot is free, extra slots cost $1 each
- Some security headers such as HSTS are missing on the main website
- Location and game counts differ between pages, which is confusing
Summary
GravelHost is one of the cheapest game server hosts with solid Ryzen hardware, a polished panel and DDoS protection on every plan. Strict refund rules and paid extra backups are the trade-offs.
Price: USD 1.80 Per month, Minecraft 2GB Budget; 40% off first order with code DPHost

GravelHost review: the quick verdict
GravelHost is a great pick if you want the most RAM for the least money and you’re comfortable managing a server through a panel. The hardware is better than the price suggests, the panel is genuinely nice to use, and DDoS protection comes with every plan.
Think twice if you need a long trial period or lots of backups included. Monthly plans can only be refunded within 72 hours, only one refund is allowed per account, and only one backup slot is free.
| Good fit | Not the best fit |
|---|---|
| Minecraft groups on a tight budget | Players who want a 7 to 30 day refund window |
| Modded Minecraft and Palworld friend groups | Owners who need many automatic backups included |
| Discord bots and small VPS projects on the same account | Anyone who needs a server in Tokyo or South America |
| Players in India, Europe and North America | Big businesses that need formal compliance documents |
What is GravelHost?
A useful GravelHost review has to start with who is behind the service, because a young budget host lives or dies on trust.
GravelHost is a game server hosting company run by Gravel LLC, a US company whose Terms of Service fall under Florida law. Its domain was registered in November 2022, so it’s a young host, about four years old. According to its About page, the hardware sits in data centres provided by Hivelocity.

Game servers are the main business, with 50+ games listed, but GravelHost also sells Discord bot hosting, TeamSpeak 3 servers, VPS hosting and basic web hosting. The site advertises a 4.8 rating on Google from 1,000+ reviews.
One thing I noticed straight away: the website contradicts itself. The homepage says 15 global locations, the footer says 12 data centres, the About page says 8, and game counts range from 21 to 52+ on different pages. None of this changes what you get at checkout, but it’s worth knowing, so I counted the real numbers myself below.
How I tested GravelHost
Every number in this GravelHost review comes from my own checks, run between 9 and 10 October 2026:
- Uptime monitoring: GravelHost’s public node status feed, checked every 5 minutes for 7 hours (87 checks), plus its status and wiki websites.
- Network data: all 207 game server nodes, grouped by city and hardware tier.
- Ping: measured from a server in Mumbai, India, using GravelHost’s own status page ping test.
- Website speed: three cold loads each of the homepage, Minecraft page and Palworld page from Mumbai, with the browser cache disabled.
- Security: SSL certificates, TLS versions, security headers, DNS and email settings on gravelhost.com and its subdomains.
- Pricing and policies: every plan page, the full checkout configurator, and the complete Terms of Service, Refund Policy and SLA.
What I did not do: I didn’t load-test GravelHost’s servers, because hammering someone else’s infrastructure without permission isn’t fair testing. I also didn’t buy a server for this review, so where I mention setup speed or support response times, those are GravelHost’s own claims and I say so.
GravelHost pricing and plans
Pricing is where this GravelHost review gets interesting. GravelHost prices most games by RAM, so you pay for memory rather than player slots. Here is the full picture as of October 2026.
Minecraft hosting: Budget, Premium and Ultimate

| Tier | CPU and memory | Price per GB | Example plans |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | Ryzen 5 5600G, DDR4 3200 MHz, NVMe | $0.90 | 2GB $1.80, 4GB $3.60, 8GB $7.20, 16GB $14.40, 32GB $28.80 |
| Premium | Ryzen 9 5900X, DDR4 3600 MHz, NVMe | $1.50 | 2GB $3.00, 4GB $6.00, 8GB $12.00, 16GB $24.00, 32GB $48.00 |
| Ultimate | Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 4800 MHz, dedicated cores | About $3.00 | 6GB / 2 cores $18, 8GB / 3 cores $24, 12GB / 3 cores $36, 32GB / 8 cores $96 |
For a small vanilla or lightly modded world, Budget is excellent value. Premium is the sweet spot for bigger modpacks, because the Ryzen 9 5900X has much stronger single-core speed, which is what Minecraft cares about most. Ultimate only makes sense for large public servers. Not sure how much RAM you need? Try our game server RAM calculator.
Palworld hosting

| Plan | RAM | Recommended players | Monthly price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chikipi | 4GB DDR4 | 4 | $9.00 |
| Caprity | 6GB DDR4 | 12 | $13.49 |
| Anubis | 8GB DDR4 | 20 | $18.00 |
| Alpha Mammorest | 10GB DDR4 | 32 | $23.49 |
Palworld is a heavy game, so these plans cost more per GB ($2.25) than Minecraft. For a full comparison with other hosts, see our best Palworld dedicated server guide.
Other games

| Game | Starting price | Game | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terraria | $1.50 | Valheim | $5.99 |
| Counter-Strike 2 | $2.99 | Project Zomboid | $5.99 |
| Garry’s Mod | $2.99 | Satisfactory | $5.99 |
| Unturned | $2.99 | Enshrouded | $5.99 |
| FiveM | $5.99 | Rust | .99 |
| 7 Days to Die | $5.99 | ARK: Survival Evolved | $8.99 |
| Don’t Starve Together | $5.99 | Conan Exiles | $17.99 |
Small warning: the game list and the individual game pages don’t always agree. Palworld shows from $11.99 on the list but $9 on its own page, and Hytale shows $2.99 on the list but $7.99 on its plan page. Always trust the price on the checkout page.
Discord bots, VPS and web hosting
GravelHost also sells non-game hosting, which is handy if your community needs a bot or a website on the same account.
| Service | Starting price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Discord bot hosting | $1.20 / month | 10GB NVMe, Java, Python and Node.js, multiple bots per server for Python and Node.js |
| TeamSpeak 3 | $3.00 / month | Voice server with DDoS protection |
| VPS (Pebble) | $11.00 / month | 3 Ryzen 9 9950X vCPU, 4GB DDR5, 90GB NVMe RAID-1, 5TB bandwidth, daily backups |
| VPS (Stone) | $19.00 / month | 4 vCPU, 8GB DDR5, 170GB NVMe, 8TB bandwidth |
| Web hosting (Basic) | $1.95 / month | 10GB NVMe, 1 website, free SSL, malware scanning |

The VPS plans are good value for the hardware, with annual billing saving 25%. The web hosting is basic. If a website is your main project, a dedicated web host from our best web hosting in India list is a better fit.
GravelHost promo code: DPHost
As a DigitalPrahlad reader you get 40% off your first order with the code DPHost. It’s for new customers and applies once. On the 4GB Budget Minecraft plan, that brings the first month from $3.60 down to about $2.16. GravelHost also gives 10% off quarterly and 15% off annual billing on game servers.
Hardware and performance
GravelHost publishes its CPU models, which many budget hosts don’t, and that made the hardware part of this GravelHost review easy to verify. Every game tier uses AMD Ryzen processors with NVMe storage and a 1 Gbit network: the Ryzen 5 5600G on Budget, Ryzen 9 5900X on Premium, and Ryzen 9 7950X with DDR5 on Ultimate. The VPS line uses the newer Ryzen 9 9950X.
I also tested how fast GravelHost’s own website loads, since that shows how carefully the company runs its infrastructure. From Mumbai, with the cache disabled, the homepage, Minecraft and Palworld pages all loaded in under 0.2 seconds, using just 6 requests and about 200 KB each. That’s very lean, helped by Cloudflare’s Mumbai edge. The status and wiki sites are slower, at about 1 second to first byte, because they aren’t behind Cloudflare. If you want to run the same kind of check on your own site, try our global TTFB tester.
| Page | Load time | Requests | Page weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Homepage | 0.19 s | 6 | 201 KB |
| Minecraft hosting | 0.18 s | 6 | 204 KB |
| Palworld hosting | 0.20 s | 6 | 204 KB |
Keep in mind that a game server’s real performance depends on the node it lands on, the game, mods and player count. The hardware here is solid for the price, but no host can make an 8GB modpack run on a 2GB plan.
Uptime and reliability
GravelHost publishes a live node status page, which I used to monitor the whole network for this GravelHost review. Over 7 hours and 87 checks, 99.51% of node checks came back online. The only node reported offline was NYC-4, PR-GER-5, TPA-4, which was down for announced planned maintenance by the data centre provider, not an unexpected outage. The status website itself answered 100.0% of checks.

On paper, the SLA promises 99.9% network and power uptime, with service credits if it’s missed. You must request credits within 7 days, credits can’t be swapped for refunds, and outages caused by your own mods, plugins or settings don’t count. Oddly, the homepage advertises only 99% uptime, so the legal SLA is the stronger promise.
A short monitoring window can’t prove long-term reliability, but a public status page with clear maintenance notices is a good sign. Many budget hosts don’t publish one at all.
Server locations and ping
Rather than trust the marketing numbers in a GravelHost review, I counted the nodes in GravelHost’s status feed. There are 207 game server nodes across 14 cities, plus 3 dedicated machines.

Germany, Dallas, Tampa and New York carry most of the network. By tier, 115 nodes run Budget plans, 66 run Premium, 16 are reserved for Palworld and 7 for Ultimate. The homepage lists Tokyo, but I found no Tokyo node in the feed, and the Budget Minecraft checkout offered 9 locations: Tampa, Chicago, Virginia, Oregon, Dallas, Los Angeles, Germany, Singapore and India.
For Indian players, the India location is the headline. It’s small, with 3 nodes, but it’s rare among budget game hosts. Here is the ping I measured from Mumbai to the other regions:

Singapore, at 78 ms, is the best backup choice for India if the India location is full. Europe sits at around 110 ms, and US locations are 200 ms or more, which is too slow for shooters. Pick the location closest to most of your players. Our guide to the best game server locations explains how to choose.
Setup and deployment
Ordering is straightforward. You pick a plan, and the configurator walks you through four steps on one page.

- Location: auto-detected from your IP, which picked Singapore for my Mumbai server. You can change it.
- Billing cycle: monthly, quarterly (10% off) or annual (15% off).
- Server software: Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, Quilt, Arclight, BungeeCord or Velocity.
- Extras: a dedicated IP for $3.99, extra backup slots at $1 each, and the optional Gravel Pass for $4.99 a month.
- Server name is the only required field, and there is no setup fee.
GravelHost says Minecraft servers go live in about 2 minutes and Palworld servers in about 60 seconds after payment. I didn’t place an order, so I can’t confirm the exact time, but the panel is automated and the official dedicated server files come pre-installed. Modded Minecraft has a plan calculator that suggests a plan for popular modpacks, for example 8GB for All the Mods 10.
User interface: control panel and mobile app
GravelHost uses its own custom game panel rather than a generic one, and it’s the nicest part of the product.

- Dashboard: live CPU, RAM and player counts, server status, uptime and SFTP details, with start, stop and restart buttons.
- Console: a real-time server console for commands and logs.
- Plugin installer: search and install plugins from Modrinth and other sources, filtered by Minecraft version.
- Modpack installer: one-click installs from CurseForge, including Better MC, RLCraft, All the Mods 9 and Prominence II.
- Version changer: switch between Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge and more without reinstalling by hand.
- Scheduled tasks, firewall manager, free MySQL database and full FTP or SFTP access are included too.
There’s also a GravelHost mobile app, available on Android and listed for iOS, so you can restart a server or install a plugin from your phone. For beginners, the plugin and modpack installers save a lot of time and mistakes.
Security and DDoS protection
Every GravelHost plan includes DDoS protection, and the VPS line is rated for attacks of up to 2 Tbps. That matters for public servers, which attract attacks. If DDoS protection is your top priority, compare with our list of the {A(D+’best-dedicated-server-with-ddos-protection/’,’best dedicated servers with DDoS protection’)}.
I also checked GravelHost’s own websites, because a host that looks after its own security is more likely to look after yours.

- Good: valid certificates from Google Trust Services and Let’s Encrypt, TLS 1.2 and 1.3 only with old TLS 1.1 switched off, a forced HTTPS redirect, Cloudflare DNS and bot protection, a Content-Security-Policy and nosniff header. Payments go through Stripe and PayPal, so card details aren’t stored by GravelHost.
- Could be better: HSTS is effectively disabled (max-age=0), there’s no clickjacking protection header, DNSSEC and CAA records aren’t set, and the email DMARC policy is only in monitor mode.
None of these gaps put your game server at direct risk, but they are easy fixes that a security-minded host would already have in place. On your side, turn on two-factor authentication where the panel offers it and use a strong, unique password.
Customer support
GravelHost offers support through three channels: 24/7 Discord support, tickets, and a live chat widget on the website. It claims an average ticket reply time of under 5 minutes. I didn’t open support tickets for this review, so treat that as GravelHost’s own figure.
Self-help is decent. The wiki covers around 20 games, including Minecraft, ARK, FiveM, Palworld, Rust, Valheim and Satisfactory, with the most guides for Minecraft. The Discord server is also where maintenance and outages are discussed, so it’s worth joining when you buy.
Paying for the Gravel Pass add-on ($4.99 a month) adds priority support, daily backups on your own schedule, extra instances and Worldspawn, a service where you describe a Minecraft plugin and GravelHost builds and installs it for you.
Billing and refunds
If you read only one part of this GravelHost review before paying, make it this one, because GravelHost’s policies are stricter than average.
| Policy | What GravelHost’s terms say |
|---|---|
| Monthly plan refunds | Refundable within 72 hours only, then all sales are final |
| Annual plan refunds | May get a prorated refund within 7 days of purchase |
| Refund limit | One refund per account |
| Add-ons and upgrades | Never refundable, whether used or not |
| Late payment | Service suspended after a 3-day grace period |
| Billing disputes | Must be raised within 30 days. A chargeback without contacting support first can get your service terminated. |
| Data after cancellation | Kept for 90 days, then may be deleted |
| Game swaps | Free, but all server data may be wiped, so back up first |
| Payment methods | Visa, Amex, Discover and PayPal |
The practical advice: test everything in the first 72 hours. Join your server, install your mods, check the ping from where your friends live, and ask support a question. If anything feels wrong, request the refund before the window closes.
Backups also deserve attention. Only one backup slot is free. GravelHost’s terms say you’re responsible for your own backups and that data lost through user error or broken mods won’t be restored. For any world you care about, buy an extra slot for $1 or download backups regularly.

GravelHost vs other cheap game server hosts
GravelHost wins on price per GB. Here’s how it compares on the things that usually decide the choice.
| If you care most about… | GravelHost | Consider instead |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest cost per GB | Excellent, from $0.90/GB | It’s already the leader |
| Long refund window | 72 hours | Hosts with 7 to 30 day guarantees |

Who should use GravelHost?
- Friend groups on Minecraft or Terraria who want a private server for a couple of dollars a month.
- Modded Minecraft players who want one-click modpacks and a Premium Ryzen 9 node.
- Palworld groups of 4 to 32 players who want quick setup.
- Indian players, thanks to the India location and the 78 ms Singapore option.
- Community owners who also need a Discord bot, TeamSpeak or a small VPS.
The short version of this GravelHost review: skip it if you need a long trial period, many backups included, or locations outside North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Overall experience
After going through GravelHost from the outside in, my overall experience is positive with a few clear caveats. The value is real: the prices match the checkout, the hardware specs are published, the panel is genuinely well made, and the public status page backed up the reliability claims during my monitoring window, with the only offline node clearly marked as planned maintenance.
The rough edges are on the business side rather than the servers: inconsistent numbers across the website, a tight 72-hour refund window, only one free backup slot, and security headers that should be tightened. None of them is a deal breaker for a budget game server, and they’re the only reason this GravelHost review stops at 4.8 out of 5 instead of a perfect score.
If you want a cheap, capable game server and you’re willing to test it properly in the first three days, GravelHost is one of the best value choices in 2026, especially with the DPHost code.
